Speaking skills to help you  influence your world for God

Would you like to speak English with greater understanding and confidence?

The University of the Nations' English as a Second Language (ESL) School offers a practical curriculum for English used in everyday life. Your English will improve as you learn in fun and creative ways. You also can grow in your knowledge of Jesus, studying the Bible as part of the program.

Our ESL teachers use many up-to-date training methods to help students learn. You will have daily small group lessons with native English-speaking teachers. There also will be group language experiences as you meet new friends and explore the beautiful island of Hawaii. You also will use our computer language lab to practice your English language skills.

To be accepted into the program you must be able to read, write and speak English at an acceptable beginner level. A phone interview will be part of the acceptance process.

Cross cultural experience

A second emphasis of ESL is cross-cultural learning. Each ESL course offers activities that expose students to different aspects of American culture. The University has many international students, and there are daily opportunities for students to build cross-cultural relationships and to broaden their English language ability. For example, students regularly eat with native speakers in our common dining area. This gives students daily opportunities to practice their English and make friends at the same time.

Our location is another benefit to the student seeking to learn English. Hawaii is often called the Crossroads of the Pacific because of its rich blend of peoples and cultures. So even outside the campus students can have daily cross-cultural experiences.

This fee includes tuition, food and housing. Contact the ESL office at for information on your school fees at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
